Rep. Knight Reflects On Constituent Lives Lost In Las Vegas Massacre

Statement

Date: Oct. 3, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Sunday night, America was faced with another tragedy. The Las Vegas massacre was an act of pure evil and cowardice that impacted so many in our community and nationwide. I am saddened by the loss of three from my district, with many more injured and fighting towards recovery.

John Pippen was a resident of Santa Clarita and small business owner of a remodeling and repair company. John was a father to five and also a grandfather. Jennifer Parks lived in Palmdale and was a kindergarten teacher at Anaverde Hills School. She was married with two children. Susan Smith lived in Simi Valley and had worked for the Simi Valley Unified School District since 2001. Susan was married with two children. At least nine more have been reported injured and are recovering from injuries. These members of our community are cherished by family, friends, and neighbors.

This act of horror and insanity is unacceptable and has regrettably changed many innocent lives. I hope you join me in reflection and prayer for the lives lost, their families, and for a speedy recovery of those injured.
